A native of St. Petersburg, Terry comes from a family of artists. His grandmother Ruth Willbrand, was an award winning artist of distinction, painting figurative and abstract art during the mid-century period. Her daughter and Terry’s mother, Gail Willbrand Brett, was an accomplished portrait painter.
Terry studied with Melissa Christiano and Luis de la Lama. His earlier work, focusing on impressionistic urban city scapes, was inspired by Colin Campbell Cooper, Guy Wiggins, and Paul Cornoyer. Terry then moved into abstract expressionism, and later, gold leaf and natural organic mediums. Currently Terry is back to painting with oils and acrylic.
Terry has exhibited at The Morean Arts Center, Leslie Curran Gallery ARTicles, Duncan McClellan Studio, and the Mahaffey Theatre. He has received recognition at shows at the Morean Arts Center, and was invited to exhibit in the Morean's "100 Years, 100 Artists" show in 2017.
Terry has had solo shows in 2012, 2016 and 2023 and 2025 at Leslie Curran Gallery - ARTicles in St. Petersburg, and also at Staybridge Suites in 2017. Terry also had a solo exhibition at the Morean Arts Center in 2019.
Terry currently exhibits at Leslie Curran Gallery, St. Petersburg. He is a past Chairman of the Morean Arts Center, and lives in St. Petersburg.

My most recent show in July 2025 at Articles Gallery was a new dive into large impressionist city scapes (NYC inspired) Unlike the small tedious city scenes I used to paint years ago...these are large paintings and created quickly to create the feeling of immediacy.
For a brief chapter I had been creating pieces not with a brush...but with scissors and fabric, and a trowel and clay. These creations are organic, featuring clay, textures, fabric and scored wood panels. A show at Articles gallery in August 2023 featuring these creations was titled "GLYPH" (see images of artwork below)
Previously, I had been creating gilded spiritual and iconic images with a medium of scored and gilded clay, 20x20 in size. The show featuring this collection was titled " ICONIC RENAISSANCE" and was held at the MOREAN ARTS CENTER in November 2019. (see images of artwork below)
My journey into the abstract culminated with an exhibition at the Leslie Curran Gallery in 2016 titled "BLUNT FORCE", Most of those creations are larger scale, usually 60x48, 48x48, 40x40 and 36x36. All are on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. (see images of artwork below)
